MEMS Pirani Vacuum Gauges and Transducers for Freeze Dryers

Posifa's MEMS Pirani vacuum gauges and transducers provide high accuracy and reliability for vacuum level measurement in freeze dryers. The internally integrated PVC6800 Series gauges and externally connected PVC4100 Series transducers are pre-calibrated and reduce overall costs.

In a typical freeze-drying cycle, vacuum measurement must remain stable as the system moves from atmosphere into medium vacuum and down toward 10^-4 Torr — often while the chamber is cold, vapor is moving, and surfaces accumulate residue over time. That combination is exactly where many teams start to feel the gap between “spec sheet performance” and actual day-to-day performance in real equipment.

That’s why Posifa’s approach is built around practical deployment. If you’re upgrading an existing freeze dryer, the PVC6800 Series can be added as an external, plug-and-play gauge — pre-calibrated, temperature-compensated, and ready to interface through a 0 V to 10 V analog output. For new designs or internal integration, the PVC4100 Series provides a compact, fully calibrated MEMS Pirani transducer intended for OEM-level integration with I²C digital output (with TTL UART support coming soon). In both cases, the goal is the same: simplify installation and validation while maintaining stable, repeatable vacuum readings.

Real-world scenarios we support:

  • Retrofit and replacement: drop-in vacuum measurement for legacy systems without redesigning the controller interface
  • OEM integration: compact, internally mounted sensing to reduce wiring, simplify assembly, and improve manufacturability
  • Long operation life: lower working temperature than filament-based devices, with strong resistance to contamination-related drift
  • Faster commissioning: pre-calibrated, temperature-compensated sensors that reduce setup time and variability between units

Posifa has supported freeze-dryer applications and related vacuum use cases for years. If you’d like to discuss your specific chamber layout, pressure range, or controller interface, we can recommend an integration approach — external attachment vs. internal integration — and help align the sensor output and mounting strategy with your process and equipment architecture.
